SDS and Label Authoring Registry

The SDS and Label Authoring registry program recognizes chemical hazard communication and environmental health professionals who specialize in authoring safety data sheets (SDS) and labels.  This registry program was developed through a partnership with the Society for Chemical Hazard Communication (SCHC) to assure the recognition of competent professionals.  Click here to  view the AIHA, AIHA Registry Programs and Society for Chemical Hazard Communication Memorandum of Understanding.  To gain the Registered Specialist: SDS and Label Author credential, an individual must meet the established qualifications and must demonstrate competency in the skills and knowledge defined by the program’s Body of Knowledge.  This AIHA Registry Program is the first EHS Specialty Credential that provides recognition for individuals who have expertise in this area. 

Is this registry for me?

The goal of this program is to improve the overall quality of SDSs and labels by encouraging individuals to develop the knowledge and skills needed to gain this credential.  The SDS and Label Authoring Registry recognizes individuals who have the minimum education, training and experience of a hazard communication professional and who regularly demonstrate competency in authoring SDSs and labels. To determine if you have the minimum education, training and experience required to qualify for enrollment, complete the SDS and Label Authoring Registry Qualifications Worksheet.

Term of Registration 

The Registered Specialist: SDS and Label Author credential is valid for five (5) years.  In order to maintain your registration status, application information will need to be updated and competency must be demonstrated every 5 years.
